One of the responsibilities that all
United Methodist churches have at the first of each year is to give a
statistical accounting of their annual ministry. As this data was prepared for our “2019
Year-End-Report” to the North Georgia Annual Conference, I thought you might be
interested in what I consider to be some of the highlights (thanks to Karla McHugh and Tracey Brown for their hard work in completing these reports!):
• Total number of new members in 2019: 63
• New members joining in 2019 by profession or reaffirmation
of Christian faith:
43 (+67%)
• Number of persons baptized (all ages):
20 (+67%)
• Net growth of MUMC church membership in 2019: +40
(+1%)
• Church membership as of December 31, 2019: 1950
• Average attendance for all worship services during 2019:
555 (+3%)
• Average attendance of those who worshiped
weekly online: 18 (new ministry)
• Average attendance in all Sunday School classes and
small groups during 2019:
312
• Number of participants at children’s Vacation
Bible School: 524 (+0.5%)
• MUMC diversity: percentage of
membership not from solely Anglo-Caucasian
origin: 7.9%
(+0.5%)
• Number of persons engaged in mission/community ministries: 750
• Number of persons served by community
ministries of outreach, justice and
mercy: 55,000
(includes ministries like Rise Vs. Hunger,
Great Day of Service, Loads of Love,
Clarkston mission, etc.)
• Total number of family units financially
supporting our church’s mission and
ministry: 454
• Total weekly offerings received: $1,117,221 (+$3692)

Total special offerings received: $1,440,000 (major gift)
• Amount spent in 2019 on program ministry and operational expenses (excludes
salaries): $310,234
(+8%)
• Amount given during 2019 for local, state, and world mission ministry: $188,618
• Current value of all church-owned buildings &
property: $3,537,034
• Principal and interest paid on indebtedness: $1,411,332 (includes
funds from major gift
of $1,193,129)
• Debt remaining on current physical buildings & assets: $1,000,324 (reduced by 57%
thanks to major gift)
As you can see, the statistics reveal
that great things are happening at McKendree U.M.C., with more great things
still to come. So if you haven’t
already, I pray that this year you and your family will “get in” on what God is
doing in our midst as we seek to carry out our Vision of being “People. Doing
Life Together. Connecting All Through Christ”! Remember, God loves you and I do, too!
