You’ve probably heard plenty of sermons about giving. But when was the last time you heard church conversations about earning or saving? Is it somehow unchristian to earn a living? Is it wrong to save for our future or our families?
John Wesley didn’t think so. In his classic sermon “The Use of Money,” the founder of Methodist Christianity reminded us that the problem isn’t money itself -- it’s how we use it. His simple, practical guidance still speaks powerfully today: earn all you can, save all you can, give all you can.
From October 4–25, we’ll explore this wisdom together in a stewardship journey called “Earn. Save. Give: Biblical Wisdom for Finances,” created by pastor and author James A. Harnish. Over four weeks, we’ll dig into Wesley’s teachings and how they connect us with the wisdom and advice from the Bible.
